Children's Mental Health Week
Back
We have run a number of special activities during Children's Mental Health Week using the characters from the film Inside Out - Joy, Disgust, Fear, Anger, Sadness - to help children understand and therefore manage their own emotions. We discussed what our bodies feel like when we experience these emotions, what they mean, the normality of feeling all of these things, how we can act to positively control and manage these feelings, and the superpowers that each of these emotions have. In particular we introduced the mantra 'Don't think, just do' as a way to help children not become overwhelmed in certain situations. Many thanks to Mrs Baxter and Mrs Wright who organised all the activities for everyone through learning they have undertaken as part of an Acorn professional development course.
